The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is a church located in Upper Bergamo , in Duomo square . Built in the second half of the 12th century, the exterior retains the original Lombard-Romanesque architectural lines, while the interior is decorated in Baroque style (between 1600 and 1700 ). It was originally the baptismal church of the Cathedral of San Vincenzo, built next to the complex of the bishopric of Bergamo.
